The Cisco N2K-C2148T-1GE Fabric Extender extends the parent switch's reach to edge devices and servers, using 1-Gbps downlinks and 10-Gbps uplinks to connect back to a Cisco Nexus 5000 or 7000 series switch. It provides low latency and high throughput, ideal for demanding data center applications. Management is centralized, as the extender acts as a remote line card of the parent switch. Cisco FabricPath and other advanced features are supported on the parent switch, rather than on the Fabric Extender itself.
